So...the new software patch has rolled out some changes with our hardware, and I'd be lying if I said I was happy with most of them. My laser rifles, sniper rifles, everything besides my shotguns and assault rifles seem to have gone to shit. Three hits with a tier-1 rifle against regular drop suits to kill it? Uh, no. Maybe if it's an advanced assault or logi suit, and definitely a heavy, but just plain old suits? That's more shit than what has to build in those fucking capsuleer pods on a long journey. I'm not much of a pilot, but word on the net is that tanks haven't been doing too well against the new tech either, though I couldn't seem to get a straight opinion about dropships. Either way, the prospect of gunning people down with just assault rifles and shotguns wasn't exactly enticing, so I said fuck it and took a couple free days.

Spent most of them sleeping, if I'm gonna be honest. I know I shouldn't, but it kinda sucks being so responsible all the time. I'm an adult (or so I tell myself) and if my job lets me sleep in until halfway through the day cycle, then why shouldn't I? It beat having another episode, at least. With that said, the sheer amount of contracts I woke up to each day, clogging my goddamned inbox like donations at an Amarr church clued me in that perhaps my comrades-in-arms aren't taking the changes lying down. Turns out that when you screw over the sniper, the laser dude, the heavy, and anyone besides the infantryman with an assault rifle, they don't feel like coming into work either. Well, good, I'm not going to fight their fucking proxy battles if they can't even give me halfway decent equipment to work with, regardless of if the other side has been screwed over too, and I'm happy to see that the others aren't either. Poor Kaz, it's just gone from bad to worse with his heavy suits.

Talked with the Doc yesterday. He claimed it was good for me to take some time off from the battles even if it was in protest of the new equipment, and instead of the usual analytical stuff we do, we had a game of chess. Well, it'd be more accurate to say that he played a game of chess, after teaching me the rules and watching me fumble around like an idiot with the pieces. I'd like to say I did well, but honestly the biggest compliment I think I could give myself is that it took me a while to die. Turns out having tactical knowledge of a proper battlefield does not a good chess player make.

Anyway, I'm taking tomorrow off as well so I decided that (brain-permitting) I'd use one of the flights I'd reserved a seat for to take that trip over to the Doc's place tomorrow. The move meant I could take a later one instead of having to use the first flight out, and I began to ponder if I'd have time to pick up some sweets or a toy or some other gift for his kids. I asked if he'd mind, to which he replied that he most definitely would as the last thing he needs is them to have even more energy.

I'm bringing some anyway.
