Another few days, another few -million- ISK. Not the biggest amount of money out there, particularly when you think about some of the trillions those older capsuleers have to swing around, but every little bit counts. Not to mention; Do they have as much fun as I do murdering my fellow man and woman for the common dollar?
..Yeah, probably. Though I imagine some of them have gotten bored of it by now. But still, there's something that speaks to the sadist in me when it comes time to shoot someone in the face with a laser gun, morality be damned. Speaking of which, I've found reports of other mercs taking less..wholesome, contracts, which is saying something given that the moral high ground is murdering a bunch of other immortals. But these folks have been dealing with civilians, sometimes merely acting as guards for high ranking officials, and other times in a more..active role, that I can't say I'm exactly keen on picking up myself.
I mean, okay, I hear that the money is good, and I imagine it's actually a lot less work than having to deal with a bunch of people who are actually shooting back. Knowing that someone you shoot dead is just going to come back at some other point and do the same to you tends to loosen the trigger fingers of a lot of civilians who'd try and take us on otherwise, y'know? But it just seems kind of like a shitty line to cross. There's a world of difference between being a merc that fights others and one that'll just take any old job they can get their hands on, regardless of integrity. I'm not sure I could wake up properly after a day of harming people who can't fight back, much less ones who can't revive after they die. I sure as hell couldn't look in the eyes of the people of the station I live on, I'll tell you that much. I mean, most of them know what I do (mostly because I've chatted with a fair few at some point or another) but they also know that I've only ever taken contracts against other mercs.
At any rate, I can't say I'm happy to hear about some of the shit other mercs stoop to, but it isn't like I've got the power to stop them. Money is money, but I'd rather spend it lavishly like a greedy idiot while still retaining at least some honor, thank you very much...says the former criminal. Blargh.
